Saturday — A burglar made off with $5,500 worth of property from a house in the 600 block of South Main Street in Slippery Rock. The unknown suspect climbed through an unlocked rear window to get into the home.The crook, while inside, also damaged several walls and a television set. The break-in happened between 1 and 3 p.m.Saturday — An unknown thief stole two laptop computers — a 17-inch Apple Mac Book Pro and a 13-inch MacBook Air — from a car parked at a Stillwater Lane home in Slippery Rock Township. Also taken from the same vehicle was a white, Samsung Galaxy cell phone, a pair of Shore headphones and other items.The theft happened between 12:45 and 2:15 a.m. A Bridgeville, Allegheny County, man owns the stolen property.Saturday — A purse was stolen from a sport utility vehicle at a home on Watson Road in Marion Township. The purse, which contained personal information including credit cards and other valuables, was taken between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.2:36 p.m. Oct. 27 — David M. Tucker, 35, of Butler was hurt when he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed on Star Grille Road, just south of Becker Road, in Winfield Township. The pickup hit an embankment and rolled upside down in a ditch.Tucker, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.2:35 a.m. Oct. 26 — Jonathan T. Ford, 24, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was found sleeping in his vehicle at the McDonald's drive-through in Center Township.

5:04 p.m. Friday — Four people, two from Butler County, were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Perry Township.The crash happened when a car driven by Tyler R. Jones, 20, of Saegertown, Crawford County turned left onto Perrysville Road and crossed into the path of another car driven by Howard G. Hynick, 39, of Butler that was traveling on Route 368.Both drivers and both of Hynick's passengers — Sara J. Smith, 25, of Rimersburg and Dylon Bowser, 8, of Boyers — were taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with injuries described as “major,” according to a police report.Jones and Smith were wearing seat belts; Hynick was not. Police did not immediately know if the boy was wearing a seat belt.

4:28 p.m. Sunday — A 32-year-old Butler woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Old Route 28 in East Franklin Township. A police report noted that investigators suspect the woman's vehicle was involved in an earlier crash on Route 422 near the Graff Bridge in North Buffalo Township.The woman, who was wanted for a probation violation, was placed in the Armstrong County Jail.4:02 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Melvin E. Erb, 85, of Freeport struck the back of a van that was illegally parked on Route 422 in Manor Township. A police report did not identify the other driver, who apparently stopped after a piece of furniture had fallen from the van onto the road.6:26 p.m. Saturday — Tim L. Dosch, 57, of Volant was arrested after he allegedly stole a purse that was left unattended in a grocery cart near the entrance of the County Market in the Pine Grove Plaza in Pine Township, Mercer County. The purse, owned by a 65-year-old Stoneboro woman, contained $100 in currency and credit cards.Police said Dosch faces theft charges.11:40 p.m. Friday — Rashell L. Babinsack, 27, of Ford City was arrested after being nabbed for allegedly shoplifting at the Walmart at the Hilltop Plaza shopping center in East Franklin Township. Police said Babinsack later became combative with store security and with police at the Kittanning barracks.The defendant, who faces charges of retail theft, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on a bench warrant out of Allegheny County.

6:34 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Cassandra J. Truden, 24, of Kane, McKean County, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert W. Cathcart, 79, of Mercer collided at Garrett Drive and Route 258 in Springfield Township. Police said Truden was cited for running a stop sign.4:55 p.m. Tuesday — A Grove City woman and a Slippery Rock man were hurt when vehicles they were driving collided at Routes 208 and 258 in Springfield Township. Linda S. Olsen, 50, and Charles L. Brochetti, 79, suffered minor injuries; both were wearing seat belts.The crash happened, according to a police report, when Olsen ran a red light in her car and struck the side of Brochetti's SUV. Police said Olsen was cited for a traffic signal violation.
