12:25 a.m. today — Robert K. Brophy, 35, of Butler was arrested on a warrant after police found him hiding under clothes and a sleeping bag in the attic of a home in the 200 block of East Walnut Street. Police said when Brophy stood up they found two syringes, an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin and other contraband. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant, and also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.9:12 p.m. Sunday — Dean R. Potts, 52, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant following a traffic stop at North Monroe and College streets. Police said they spotted on the driver's side floor a glass smoking pipe with suspected cocaine residue in it.Officers searched Potts and found him with six Suboxone strips, three pills of anti-anxiety medication alprazolam and other drug contraband, according to a police report.Potts was place in the Butler County Prison on the warrant. Police said they also charged him with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.8:48 p.m. Sunday — Jason S. Beckwith, 36, of Butler was allegedly intoxicated when he fell and hurt himself in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street. Beckwith was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor facial injuries. Police said he was cited for public drunkenness.

3:07 a.m. Thursday — One person was hurt when Hannah Chase, 23, of Toronto, Ohio, lost control of her car and crashed into the PennDOT salt stock pile and a large mound of stones on New Castle Road.Aurelia Whitehurst, 22, of Steubenville, Ohio, a front seat passenger, suffered cuts to her mouth when her face struck the dashboard. She refused medical treatment at the scene.Patrick Thomas Ryan, 21, of Toronto, Ohio, a back seat passenger, was arrested after police found him with suspected marijuana and a smoking pipe. Ryan, who is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, is free on $2,500 bail.1:11 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Bret W. Kemper, 42, struck a snow pile, an embankment and tree along Mercer Road near Rose Hill Cemetery.6:39 p.m. Wednesday — Marlene Winters, 76, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle at Whitestown and Duffy roads. Police believe the crash happened when Winters suffered a medical condition and traveled through a red light. She suffered unknown injuries in the crash. Matthew Smith, 28, of Butler was the other driver.

11:32 a.m. Saturday — Christine I. Taylor, 40, of Ellwood City was caught allegedly shoplifting nearly $160 worth of clothes from the Boscov's store at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Police said Taylor is charged with retail theft.10:56 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Hanying Huang, 23, of Pittsburgh crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Police said Huang was cited for driving too fast for conditions.8:30 a.m. Saturday — Justin R. McGowan, 25, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was clocked traveling 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 356 at Burtner Road in Jefferson Township.3 a.m. Saturday — Nathan J. Karwoski, 20, of Butler lost control of his pickup truck and struck a tree along South Benbrook Road in Center Township. Police said Karwoski was cited for driving too fast for conditions.10 p.m. Friday — John E. Hardt, 56, of Harmony was arrested for suspicion of DUI after his vehicle struck an embankment on Harmony Road Extension near Route 528 in Forward Township.Thursday — An unknown thief stole various items from four unlocked vehicles parked in driveways on Covewood Drive. The thefts happened between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

11:20 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Tyler Q. McBride, 22, and a tractor-trailer driven by Georgina Karnes, 65, both of Parker collided on Blairs Corner Road just north of Sterner Road in Beaver Township, Clarion County. Police said McBride was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

8:35 a.m. Sunday — Speed and a snow-covered road were blamed for a wreck on Interstate 80 just east of Clintonville Road in Clinton Township, Venango County. The crash happened when Brittany E. Chandler, 23, of Charleroi, Washington County, lost control of her sport utility vehicle, traveled down an embankment and struck a ditch. Police said she was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

3:37 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Brandi M. Maxwell, 33, of Ford City crashed into a tree along Route 66 in Parks Township. Police said Maxwell was cited for driving too fast for conditions.12:40 p.m. Sunday — Lauren N. Tarr, 19, of Kittanning lost control of her car and crashed into a guardrail on Route 422 just east of Glade Run Road in East Franklin Township. Police said Tarr was cited for a lane violation.11 p.m. Saturday — Travis J. Myers, 19, of Leechburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck and a car collided in Bethel Township. Police said Myers pulled in front of the car at Morhac Road and Route 66. Steven P. Craven, 44, of Ford City, who was driving the car, was unable to avoid hitting the back end of the truck. According to a police report, the teenager, in addition to drunken driving, faces charges of underage drinking and several unspecified traffic offenses.2:28 p.m. Saturday — One person was hurt in a one-car crash in Buffalo Township, Butler County. Nicole L. Wehler, 33, of Kittanning lost control of the car on Route 28 south just north of exit 17 when she swerved to avoid a large plastic bag full of unknown materials on the road.The vehicle slammed into the embankment between the southbound and northbound lanes before crossing into the northbound lanes and hitting the guardrail on the east side of Route 28.Wehler, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, for moderate injuries.1:04 p.m. Saturday — Kayla M. Moore, 21, of Ford City lost control of her car while turning left from Fairground Road onto Route 66 in Manor Township, and crashed into a guardrail.7:40 p.m. Saturday — A 24-year-old man, who police did not identify, is suspected of firing a gun in the area of another man on Brickyard Road near Boltz Road in East Franklin Township. The alleged victim, 55-year-old George Burdette Jr., was not hurt. Police said the investigation continues and they did not release any other information.

9:01 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Michael A. Sieffert, 25, of West Sunbury and a car driven by John D. Cunningham, 43, of Grove City collided at Cranberry and George Junior roads in Pine Township. Police said Sieffert was cited for a stop sign violation.Friday — An unknown burglar made off with a small floor safe that was in an upstairs bedroom of a home in the 400 block of Milburn Road in Springfield Township. The break-in happened between 7:35 a.m. and 4:55 p.m. when the suspect got into the house after kicking in the garage door. Police said the safe contained $50.Tuesday — A black, 2005 Emerson dump trailer was stolen from a home in the 700 block of Creek Road in Springfield Township. The theft happened between Feb. 21 and Tuesday.

10 a.m. Friday — An elderly woman was startled but not hurt in a home invasion n Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Investigators are looking for three suspects, all white and in their 20s.Police said the trio drove to the 78-year-old woman's home in the 800 block of Mount Herman Church Road in a red car. One of the suspects, a woman, initially knocked on the door but no one came to the door.A short time later, a second suspect, a man described as 6 feet, 3 inches tall with a large build, kicked in the back door, apparently believing no one was inside the house.But once in the house, according to a police report, the man came face to face with the victim. The man ran out of the home, got into the vehicle and fled with the other suspects.Police said the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-598-2211.Thursday — More than $3,000 in unspecified property was stolen in a burglary at a home on Route 108 in Plain Grove Township. Police suspect the unknown burglar got into the house through an unlocked door after accessing an unlocked breezeway door.
