Trash fire spreads to storage unit

Multiple fire crews responded to a trash fire that spread to a storage unit on Beck Road in Summit Township, Monday afternoon.
According to Rob Shuler, chief of Herman Volunteer Fire Company, no one was injured in the fire.
He said it destroyed a storage unit, part of a mobile home and about a half-acre of woods near the residence after it got called in at around 4:01 p.m. Monday. He said the resident was trying to burn garbage on the property, but it got out of control.
The crews were able to extinguish the fire within several minutes, Shuler said.
Alongside Herman, East Butler Volunteer Fire Department and Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company also responded to the scene.
