Gold GlovesButler Cubs boxer and Knoch graduate Brian Mowry, 22, won a Pittsburgh Gold Gloves title at the Wolfpack Gym in Carnegie over the weekend.Mowry (7-1) competed in the 201-plus pound novice division and defeated Jordan Cummings of the Brownson House in Washington (Pa.) in the finals.Mowry will advance to the Pennsylvania Gold Gloves finals April 8 in Harrisburg.

Mars grad Castello a PSAC championINDIANA — Mars graduate John Castello, a freshman forward on the Shippensburg University men's basketball team, had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the Red Raiders' 73-63 PSAC championship win over Kutztown Sunday at the Kovalchick Complex.The double-double was Castello's eighth of the season.Shippensburg is the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Regional and plays Virginia Union in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Raiders find partner for stadium dealALAMEDA, Calif. — The Oakland Raiders told the NFL on Monday they have found a new partner to finance their proposed stadium in Las Vegas: Bank of America.The Raiders had been seeking a new partner for the proposed $1.9 billion, 65,000-seat domed stadium after casino magnate Sheldon Adelson withdrew a $650 million pledge last month.The state of Nevada has committed $750 million to the project, while the Raiders and NFL would pay the remaining $500 million if three-quarters of the league’s owners approve a move.

Redskins, Gruden sign extensionASHBURN, Va. — Amid an offseason of potential upheaval, the Washington Redskins have made an investment in continuity by signing coach Jay Gruden to a multiyear contract extension.Gruden was going into the fourth year of a five-year contract.The 50-year-old is the first coach to have his contract extended by Dan Snyder, who has owned the team for 18 years.
