Catherine E. “Kay” Baranowski
Catherine E. “Kay” Baranowski, 89, of Butler went home with the angels Monday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Leonard and Raffela Salvatore Grence.
Kay was a former sales clerk at Troutman's Department Store. She was also formerly employed at Whelan's Drug Store and the American Bantam Car Co.
She was a volunteer for the Butler Symphony's Half Note and Coda Shop for 20 years. Kay was an officer for the Bowlerettes League for 56 years, where she had many friends. She had previously held the high women's single game for many years with a 279. She continued bowling up until May 2015.
Kay also had a large collection of angels. She loved to plant and care for her flowers at her home.
She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She attended Saint Michael grade school as a child.
Kay is survived by her husband, Leonard J. Baranowski to whom she was married for 63 years; one daughter, Mary Betts and her husband, Ken, of Butler; and three very loved grandchildren, Becki Skibinski and her husband, Michael, of Grove City, Steven Green and his wife, Michelle, of Butler, and Nicky Steighner and her husband, Kris, of Butler.
Also surviving are six cherished great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Madi Wick, Steve and Krislyn Green, and Sebastian and Kameron Steighner; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Grence and Carole Grence, both of Butler. She also left a number of nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Josie.
Kay was preceded in death by her infant sister, Josephine, and two brothers, Anthony and James Grence.
BARANOWSKI — Friends of Catherine E. “Kay” Baranowski, who died Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A blessing service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
