Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council recently presented Butler County Community College with the Spirit of Girl Scouting Award for its dedication to Girl Scouting.Bessie Jeffries, treasurer of the KTTGSC board of directors, and JoAnn Clark, KTTGSC program outreach specialist, presented Cynthia Azari, president of BC3, and Ray Steffler, chairman of the BC3 Board of Trustees, with the Spirit of Girl Scouting Award at a recent college board meeting.Clark, who nominated the college for the award, said that BC3 has supported the KTTGSC in many ways, including the use of its facilities for Brownie Try-it Day, Mission Discovery and Girls Go Tech.For their dedicated service to Girl Scouts,

Margaret Jakim, both of Cranberry Township, have received top honors from the Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council.McElhinny, a 30-year member of the Girl Scouts, was honored with the Girl Scout Thanks II Badge at the recent meeting of the Southwest Neighborhood.McElhinny is responsible for recruiting new troop leaders and service team members in the Evans City, Harmony and Zelienople areas. She serves in the Southwest Neighborhood as training coordinator, neighborhood organizer and on the Girl Scout Cookie committee. She was awarded the Thanks Badge in 1998.Jakim and McGuire-Conlon were recognized with the Thanks Badge at the council's annual meeting.A lifetime Girl Scout, Jakim currently serves on the KTTGSC Board of Directors. She has served as a troop leader, day camp director, registrar, council delegate, Gold Award committee member and nominating committee chair.A Girl Scout member for 45 years, McGuire-Conlon has served as troop leader, Gold Award advisor, nominating committee member, service team member and lifeguard. She was instrumental in arranging computer days at Slippery Rock University for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts.Dorothy Brookes received the Girl Scout Appreciation Pin at the council's annual meeting. Brookes, a member of Girl Scouts for 15 years, is an older girl consultant, Senior Girl Scout Advisor and chairwoman for KTFGSC Blazing Star Association. She has served as a member of the council's long term planning committee.The annual Blue and Gold Banquet for
Cub Scout Pack 37 recently was held and cubs were awarded badges for their achievements.Tiger Cubs
Wesley Loft, Charles Parsons and
Hunter Reep were welcomed into the pack.Scouts earning the Wolf badge were
Cole Foertsch, Alec George, Zachary Grazier, Brett Hilliard, Jared Shaffer and
Joseph Thiry.Bear badges were awarded to
Terry Bailey, Stephen Brown, Joshua Grazier and
Trevor Shaffer.The Webelos badge was earned by
Joshua Altman, Jarrod Hull, Ryan Kelly, Kevin Loft, Matthew Marterella, Evan Miller, Emmett Sanderson and
Alex Welter.The
Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council's Women's Getaway is scheduled for Aug. 11 to 14 at the Singing Hills Program Center, Oil City; and is open to women 18 and older.Women do not have to be registered Girl Scout adults to attend. The cost for the camp is $20 for each full day (Friday, Saturday or Sunday) or $50 for the entire weekend for registered Girl Scouts and $60 for non-Girl Scouts, which includes a $10 membership fee. Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council presented Cranberry Neighborhood, East Suburban Neighborhood, Glacier's End Neighborhood, Moniteau Neighborhood, Petroleum Valley Neighborhood, Southwest Neighborhood and Trefoil Neighborhood with its coveted President's Award at the council's annual meeting in Clarion. The President's Award recognizes the efforts of a geographic area team in moving its assigned area toward achieving the council's goals during the membership year.The Cranberry Neighborhood consists of 37 Girl Scout troops with 436 girl members and 149 adult members.East Suburban Neighborhood consists of 17 Girl Scout troops with 200 girl members and 68 adult members and is located in the Center, Oakland and Summit townships, Fenelton and Chicora area.Glacier's End Neighborhood consists of 19 Girl Scout troops with 191 girl members and 101 adult members and is in the Slippery Rock, Harrisville, Prospect and Portersville area.Moniteau Neighborhood consists of nine Girl Scout troops with 103 girl members and 27 adult members and consists of the Boyers, Eau Claire, Hilliards, Parker, North Washington and West Sunbury area.Petroleum Valley Neighborhood consists of five Girl Scout troops with 59 girl members and 20 adult members and is in the Chicora, Fenelton, Karns City and Petrolia area.Southwest Neighborhood consists of 34 Girl Scout troops with 392 girl members and 128 adult members and is located in the Harmony, Zelienople and Evans City area.Trefoil Neighborhood consists of 22 Girl Scout troops with 286 girl members and 93 adult members and is located in the Mars and Valencia area.
Junior Girl Scout Troop 418 recently visited Goodwill Industries; and on May 17, they donated more than 150 toothbrushes and several stuffed animals to the American Red Cross in Butler.The girls also toured the Red Cross building and learned how the Red Cross responds to an emergency.During a March meeting, the girls were taught first aid and CPR by the Red Cross.The toothbrushes and stuffed animals will be distributed by the Red Cross to displaced families.
