Man allegedly tried to steal soft drinks, pressure washer
An Ellwood City man was charged Wednesday with three felony retail thefts after allegedly trying to steal shopping carts full of merchandise from Walmart three times since March.
According to police, Michael Guy, 33, pushed a shopping cart with 26 boxes of Red Bull soft drinks worth $398 outside without paying on March 26.
Police report Guy left the cases in the store parking in Butler Commons when security followed him.
On June 27, Guy allegedly pushed out a cart containing an air conditioning unit and a box fan valued at $128 out the door without paying.
Less than one month later on July 23, he allegedly left the store with a cart holding a pressure washer and two vacuums worth $702 without paying.
Store security spotted Guy five other times between January and August, violating a trespass order from a prior shoplifting case at the New Castle Walmart.
Along with the felony thefts, Guy is charged with receiving stole property and eight trespassing violations.
He is jailed in the Butler County Prison on multiple warrants, including one from Lawrence County, and a Butler County probation violation.
