SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock senior midfielder Kayla Daugherty has been named District 10, Region 2 Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Also earning first team all-region honors from the Rockets are senior goalkeeper Julia Hart, senior forward Emily Raine, junior forwards Hannah Burtner and Isabelle Willison, junior defender Ashley Shea, sophomore defender Hillary Burtner and freshman defender Emma Hays.

Sophomore midfielder Amanda Lewis and freshman midfielder Eve Miller made second team.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Seven Slippery Rock boys soccer players have been named first team District 10, Region 5.Those players are senior goalkeeper Duncan McCoy, senior striker Ryan Davey, senior midfielders Tyler Christy, Jack Allen and Ian Balquist, senior defenders Nathaniel Willison and Zach Caldwell.Sophomore striker Kaleb Kuhn made second team.

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Touchamatic, a 5-year-old filly owned by Renee Bercury and trained by Bill Bercury, both of Slippery Rock, collected her 17th win of the year recently at The Meadows.Touchamatic won the $20,000 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace and now has $417,622 in career earnings.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team ended its season Saturday with a 4-2 NCAA Division II Tournament loss to West Chester at Egli Field.SRU (18-4) posted the most wins in a season in program history. Kayla Swope and Madison Johnson scored The Rock goals.West Chester improved to 14-5-2 on the year.

CRANBERRY TWP — Six North Catholic football players have been named first team All-Big East Conference.Guard-defensive lineman Dominic Prentice earned honors on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Zach Rocco, receiver Nick Maher and tackle Carson Primrose made first team offense.Inside linebacker Mathias Benson and cornerback Isiah Jackson made first team on defense.Picking up second team honors are defensive lineman Primrose, outside linebacker Maher and safety Joey Prentice.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team earned a split at home over the weekend, defeating Lock Haven 75-70 Sunday and losing to Shippensburg, 92-67, Saturday.SRU’s women’s team lost 76-60 to Lock Haven and dropped a 74-60 decision to Shippensburg.
