DuBrook will continue locally with new owners
The DuBrook legacy now rests in new hands.
Owner and president Rosemary Ogorchock Barber sold DuBrook, a concrete manufacturer with plants in Butler and Evans City, to Mike Hindman and Braun Gourley, owners of the M and B Group, the parent company of M and B Redi-mix and M and B Services.
Barber's father John “Jack” Ogorchock started the company in 1946 in Brookville, Jefferson County, with one dump trunk. In 1993, he passed the company to his children.
“It is my sincere desire that DuBrook will continue on successfully for many years into the future,” Barber said.
Between their two Butler County plants DuBrook employs about 20 people, according to Barber.
She said she feels comfortable selling the company to capable and caring new owners.
“These guys are young enough to carry it forward for decades, and they are excited about conquering each and every day,” she said. “I believe that my dad would be happy to have Mike and Braun as part of the DuBrook family that will continue his legacy.”
Hindman, who also serves as president for the M and B Group, said his company, which has plants in Clarion and Brookville, is excited to expand and incorporate into a new community.
“We plan to operate under the DuBrook name with the same personnel,” he said.
Gourley's great-grandfather, Charles M. Lawrence began the Clarion branch of the business in 1919. The Lawrence family owned and operated the business until it was sold to the Glenn family in 1984. Paul Glenn purchased the Brookville location in the 1970s. The M and B Group purchased Glenn Redi-Mix in April of 2014.
“This acquisition will give us a very large coverage area and will allow us to serve the needs of our customers throughout that area,” said Gourley, who also serves the M and B Group as vice president. “Our goal is to provide high quality products and dependable service to all of our customers.”
Barber said she anticipates the transition could be complete as early as February. She said will continue to support the new owners in the transition and beyond, but she will not have a full-time position at the company.
“I'll be helping them as needed,” she said.
Hindman and Gourley said Barber has been kind as a seller, and they want to carry on DuBrook's legacy.
“I really want to thank Rosemary for welcoming the M and B family into the DuBrook family,” Hindman said. “She is a wonderful person, with a long family history of hard work. We look forward to keeping the DuBrook legacy strong for many years to come.”
