Genesis Medical Associates finds new home at Clearview Mall
Those looking for the Genesis Medical Associates primary care facility near Butler Memorial Hospital need not worry; it hasn’t disappeared. It has simply moved a few miles away to the Clearview Mall building in Center Township.
The new location opened in March within space once belonging to the JCPenney department store that closed in August 2020. According to practice director Lisa Smith, the Clearview Mall location was the right place at the right time.
“It’s accessible, it’s got parking, it’s central to the patient population and it’s right on the bus line,” Smith said.
According to Smith, as of July 2026, Butler’s Genesis location consists of about 30 staff members — including six physicians and three nurse practitioners — with a seventh physician expected to onboard in the near future.
In moving to the Clearview Mall, Genesis left behind its previous location on East Jefferson Street on a parcel it had leased from Butler Memorial Hospital for decades. According to Smith, the new space was needed.
“We outgrew the old space,” Smith said. “We’d been there for 34 years, and it was pretty well worn, so we wanted to update to a more modern office with more space, and it’s been fantastic.”
Dr. John R. Rocchi said the new facility features the latest technology and advanced medical equipment, “allowing us to deliver high-quality, efficient and personalized care.
“Every detail of our office has been carefully planned with our patients’ comfort, convenience and well-being in mind,” he said.
A highlight of the new location is a fully equipped in-house laboratory, which staff members say will increase the quality of care offered.
“With on-site diagnostic testing, we can provide faster results, streamline the diagnostic process and help patients begin treatment sooner,” Rocchi said. “This convenience reduces the need for multiple appointments and enhances the overall patient experience.”
The Butler location is one of 12 in the Genesis Medical Associates network, dotted across the Western Pennsylvania area. It offers services such as primary care, cardiology testing, women’s health and lab work.
“They're scattered mostly through the North Hills,” Smith said. “There's two in Cranberry, one in New Castle and many of them are in the North Hills.”
Genesis Medical Associates is not the only tenant moving into the former JCPenney space.
Tri-State Orthopedics & Sports Medicine opened its own location at the Clearview Mall earlier this year.
Smith also said that UPMC is also looking to expand its Butler County presence by opening medical offices at the mall.
“Their offices are all under construction,” Smith said. “They have a number of specialists that are going to be coming to the area to help improve access to specialty care.”
As for the previous Genesis location at East Jefferson Street, Butler Memorial Hospital is now using it for its residency program.
