Butler DAR to award Horan

Judge Marilyn Horan

Butler’s Daughters of the American Revolution group has chosen Judge Marilyn Horan to receive its Women in American History Award to celebrate Horan’s ascension to a federal court bench.

Horan was nominated in December to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania by President Donald Trump. She was confirmed Sept. 6 by the U.S. Senate with a unanimous voice vote, and she began her new position last month, ending a 22-year career as a common pleas court judge in Butler.

To mark the occasion, the Daughters of the American Revolution will present Horan with the award on Saturday at the Brick House Restaurant on Main Street.

“Judge Marilyn Horan ... deserves this special recognition,” the organization wrote in a news release announcing the event. The award “is to acknowledge a woman, past or present who has made a difference in American history.”

It’s unclear if Horan will be available to attend the event.
