Norman L. Crane, 84, of Buffalo Township passed away at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday at Elmcroft of Saxonburg while in the company of family members.

Norman was born in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, May 15, 1926, the son of the late J. Reuben and M. Olive (Weinel) Crane.

Norm was a member of the U.S. Army Co. B, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Division, in World War II. He served in the Pacific theater, where he received three Bronze Stars for his duty.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport.

Norman was an equipment operator for the Walter & Haas Co. for 38 years. He then went into business for himself as an operator for 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, working, gardening and selling his Christmas trees for the past 20 years.

He is survived his two sons, Jeffrey L. (Barbara) Crane of Winfield Township and David P. (Maggie) Crane of Buffalo Township; two grandchildren, Michael Crane of Halifax, Dauphin County, and Stephanie Crane of Winfield Township; two step-grandchildren, Heather (Roy) Wright of Worthington and Justin Toy of Worthington; three step-great grandchildren, Chloey Toy, Dalson Wright and Caden Toy; and a brother, Dean Crane of Lower Burrell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. (Shick) Crane; a brother, Clarence Crane; and two sisters, Ruth Lewis and Alene Hoss.
