Harry J. Reed

Harry J. Reed, 80, of Buffalo Township passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Harry was born in Natrona Heights, June 29, 1930, the son of the late Harry J. and Jennie (Duff) Reed.

He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

Harry worked as a grinder and heavy equipment operator at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 49 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Saxonburg and was the person who came up with the name of the church.

Harry enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, working on cars and spending time with his family

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys A. (Reinhold) Reed; his two sons, Carl Reed of Ford City and Thomas (Bonnie) Reed of Ben Wheeler, Texas; a daughter, Denise (Ernie Henry) Reed of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and seven grandchildren; Nathanael Reed, Connie Bell, Jennie (Bill) Westbrook, twins Gregory and Robert Viruet, Emilee Reed and Harry Reed IV; and seven great-grandchildren, Marissa Bell, Jacob Bell, Abigail Westbrook, Aryana Viruet, twins Abigail and Alyssa Viruet, and Harper Westbrook.

He was preceded in death by his son, Harry Reed III.

<B>REED</B> — Family and friends of Harry J. Reed, who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, are being received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday with his pastor, the Rev. K.L. McDeavitt, officiating.
