Police: Man rammed pickup into car
State police arrested a Jefferson Township man they say intentionally rammed his pickup into the back of a car with three people inside during a domestic dispute Sunday at his home.
Jason M. Giza, 38, is charged with three felony counts of aggravated assault. He also is charged with three counts each of simple assault and reckless endangerment, as well as driving under the influence and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.
Additionally, he is charged with three summary counts of harassment. He is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
Police said they were called to Giza's home on Reay Lane just after 1 a.m. for a reported domestic dispute. They got there and found the three victims — Giza's wife and two women who were at the house for a get-together.
One of the other women told police that Giza and his wife got into an argument, according to charging documents, and the defendant threw his wife to the floor and hit her in the chest.
All three women left the house, police said, to get away from Giza. They got into one of the visiting women's vehicles.
Giza allegedly drove his GMC Denali pickup into the rear of the other vehicle on Reay Lane, documents said. The truck sustained heavy front-end damage, police said, and the victim's vehicle had unspecified rear-end damage.
Police suspected Giza was impaired, but he refused to take a breath test at the police barracks.
His preliminary hearing is set Sept. 19. He is being represented by the Butler County public defender's office, but his case has not been assigned to an attorney, according to the office Tuesday.
