Grove City College senior guard Abby Moose, a Portersville Christian graduate, scored 14 points Wednesday in helping the U.S. Deaflympic women's basketball team defeat New Zealand, 99-36, during pool play in Melbourne, Australia.

Moose sank a pair of 3-pointers while adding two rebounds and a steal.

In the Americans' 92-61 win over Lithuania Thursday, Moose scored nine points and recorded three steals.

Matt Lobaugh scored 25 points to lead a balanced scoring attack, but the Butler County Community College men's basketball team lost to Thiel College 97-89 Thursday.Chris Harmon and Jeremy Peterson each had 15 points, Butler grad Joel Rehm had 12 points and Corey Robinson had 11.The Pioneers (9-5) play Saturday against Pitt-Titusville.

NEW YORK - The NHL canceled next week's meeting with its board of governors because the league has nothing new to report in the stagnant collective-bargaining process.
