Butler Police2 p.m. Wednesday — A 74-year-old Summit Township man was hurt when a pickup truck hit him as he tried to cross East Wayne Street. Ronald Bowser was treated at the scene for minor injuries.The driver, Thomas J. Anderson, 45, of Evans City, told police he had been stopped at a red light on South Main Street. When the light changed green, he attempted to make a left turn onto East Wayne Street. He saw Bowser on the road and tried to stop but slid on ice and hit the man, knocking him to the ground. No charges were filed in the accident.1:56 p.m. Sunday — Kevin Merritt, 22, no known address, was arrested after he allegedly brandished a knife during an altercation with an employee at the Grapevine Center on North Elm Street. No one was injured.A day earlier Merritt had caused a disturbance at the facility during which manager Paul Jones told him that he was no longer permitted on the property.Merritt left but he returned Sunday and passed out in a chair in lobby. Jones confronted Merritt, telling him to leave.“Merritt went into the vestibule, pulled out a knife in his right hand and began to taunt Jones,” a police affidavit said.Police were called and arrested the suspect about one-half block away on North Elm Street. Officers searched Merritt, who smelled of alcohol, and found a folding knife.He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, defiant trespass and public drunkenness, and placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.6:08 a.m. Saturday — Kenneth A. Kupec, 53, of Butler lost control of his car on ice-covered Roosevelt Boulevard and struck a curb and a sewer drain.7:45 p.m. Jan. 8 — A car driven by David A. Benedict, 23, of Butler hit a utility pole after sliding off icy Armco Lane near Hansen Avenue.

Butler Twp PoliceThursday — Tanni K. Milligan, 24, of Butler was charged in connection with the theft of $749 worth of items that were taken from a car Jan. 3 at the Regal Cinema parking lot at Moraine Pointe Plaza. She is charged with theft and receiving stolen property, both misdemeanors.Thursday — Police charged William E. Burke, 36, of Cabot with selling stolen items Jan. 4 at the Game Stop store at Butler Commons. He received $44 for the alleged criminal transaction. Burke is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

Grove City PoliceJan. 4 — A yellow Apple iPhone 5C belonging to a Grove City youth was stolen from a school bus after a basketball game. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.7:57 p.m. Dec. 15 — A car was reported stolen from a driveway on the 500 block of Oakland Avenue. The car, a beige, 2007 Ford 500 sedan was taken between 8 p.m. Dec. 14 and 7:45 a.m. Dec. 15. A key was in the vehicle.

State Police, FranklinWednesday — Police found the car but not the driver in a hit-and-run crash in Clinton Township, Venango County. The unknown driver apparently lost control of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala on a bend on Route 308 and went off the road, hitting a culvert. The driver was gone when police got there.

State Police, New CastleDec. 11 — A burglar stole several pieces of jewelry from a house on the 300 block of Young Road in Washington Township, Lawrence County. The items were in a brown wooden jewelry box, which was taken in the break-in between 8 aa.m. and 4 p.m.The stolen pieces included a silver wedding ring, a silver engagement ring, a silver anniversary band, a white gold pin with a blue stone, and a gold curved bracelet.
