Rockets girls capture tournament
The Slippery Rock High girls soccer team captured first place in the Harbor Creek Tournament over the weekend.
Jence Rhoads scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over Warren on Friday. Beth Reefer added an assist and Robin Craig tallied the shutout in goal.
The Rockets (2-0) then defeated host Harbor Creek 3-1 on penalty kicks in Saturday's final.

Cassie Berlin scored the Raiders' lone goal in this defeat at the Seneca Valley Tournament. In the championship game, Mt. Lebanon defeated Penn-Trafford 5-1.

Butler 6, Montour 1 -Jake Huey tallied two goals for the Golden Tornado while Dave Crissman, Doug Moran, David Rice and Jack Kaufman added one apiece.Seneca Valley 5, Norwin 0 -Senior midfielder Justin Nock tallied a goal in the Raiders' victory.
The Butler boys and girls cross country teams placed 11th and 13th, respectively, out of 20 teams Saturday at the Erie McDowell Invitational.Jamie Rogerson was Butler's top finisher in the boys competition at 16 minutes, 47 seconds.Karen Geibel managed the best time for Butler on the girls side with a 53rd place finish at 22:52.
The host Rockets took first place in the Slippery Rock Tournament over the weekend.The Rockets disposed of Cranberry High in the semifinals 2-1 before sweeping Reynolds in the title match (25-15, 25-15). Slippery Rock was 8-0 in pool play.Kristen Staugh tallied 80 assists in the event, Hillary Pritts had 26 kills and Sarah Yakima totaled 19 service points.The Rockets' JV team won its tournament as well, beating Cranberry in the finals.
