Falcons take it on the chin from Redbank Valley

Skyler Smith rushed for four touchdowns and Mike Booher scored three times as the Redbank Valley football team toppled A-C Valley 49-6 Friday night.

A-C Valley's (1-5, 1-4) lone score came when Hank Heeter caught a 19-yard pass from Brad Rembold late in the fourth quarter.

Smith scored on touchdown runs of 1, 9, and 1 in the first quarter and also returned a punt 59 yards for another score in the first half. He rushed for 112 yards in 13 carries.

Booher added a 60-yard touchdown reception from Brandon Doverspike and also had scoring runs of 4 and 6 yards.

Redbank Valley (4-3, 3-2) led 42-0 at halftime.

Lakeview 53, Union 8

- Jonathan Hogue and Treven Stoops each scored three touchdowns as Lakeview downed Union.

The Sailors (2-5) rushed for 339 yards in the contest.

Hogue rushed for 177 yards on 17 carries for Lakeview.

Union (0-7) has now lost 28 straight games.

Grove City's Cameron Peterson shot a 73 Friday in the final round of the District 10 Championships to win the tournament.Peterson shot a 73 in the first round.Grove City's Derek Forese shot a 76-73 to finish third in the tournament.Both golfers advanced to the state tournament.

Slippery Rock 2, Grove City 0 -Joe Bryan made seven saves in goal to record the Rockets' 10th shutout of the season Thursday. Mike Ramirez and Craig Bicehouse scored goals in the second half for Slippery Rock (12-1-2).Slippery Rock travels to Oil City Tuesday.

Grove City 3, Kennedy Catholic 2 (OT) -Sophomore Erinn Gilmore scored the winning goal with less than four minutes remaining in the second overtime period earlier this week. Helen Phipps and Jessica Hodge scored in regulation for Grove City.Phipps scored both goals in Grove City's recent 2-1 win over Eisenhower.

Clarion 3, A-C Valley 0 -The Falcons dropped this Thursday match 25-16, 25-14, 25-6. A-C Valley's junior varsity suffered a 25-19, 25-9 loss.No other details were reported.
