Karns City second baseman Josh Stimac guns down a Redbank Valley runner for an out at first Tuesday in the Gremlins' 4-0 loss.

Chelsea Martin's base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Zoe Hughes with the winning run as Knoch defeated Hampton, 5-4 in high school softball Tuesday.

Martin ended the game with two singles, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI.

Kirsten Brant added three base hits, a run and an RBI for the Knights (2-0).

In other games:

• Brittany Showers pitched a no-hitter as Freeport recorded a 1-0 win over Burrell in nine innings. Jessica Rykaceski tripled and scored on Lynn Patterson's one-out single in the bottom of the ninth.

• Jenna Geibel homered and Erica Thrower added three hits, but Butler dropped a 10-3 decision to Riverside.
