SLIPPERY ROCK — A teenager faces a hearing next week on charges he had marijuana wax and scales during an April traffic stop in the borough.

Jordyn N. Sutton, 19, of Marion Township was arraigned Wednesday on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Additionally, he is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and a summary count of underage drinking.

State police said Sutton was a passenger in a car they stopped about 6:50 p.m. April 28 in the 100 block of School Drive in Slippery Rock for a possible tinted window violation.

A trooper noticed a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the car, according to court documents. A subsequent search of Sutton's back pack turned up a rubber container with 12.4 grams of suspected THC wax.

Police said they also found two scales in the backpack.

The teen admitted that he was drinking “throughout the day,” documents said, and a portable breath test device confirmed he had alcohol in his system.

Sutton's preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. June 6 at the office of District Judge Bill O'Donnell in Slippery Rock. He remains free on $5,000 unsecured bail.
