Dorothy J. Sharlow
Dorothy J. Sharlow, 75, of Butler passed away Wednesday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center after battling heart disease.
Born April 30, 1936, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of John Harr and Evelyn Unks Harr.
She was a graduate of Shaler High School, where she played trumpet in the school band and played on the girls' basketball team.
Once she graduated, Dorothy worked at Gimbels department store and US Steel, where she also played women's basketball.
After marrying, she concentrated on being a homemaker and enjoyed creating new recipes, flower gardening, sewing, doing arts and crafts, and being outdoors.
Surviving are her loving husband, Walter H. Sharlow Jr., who she married Sept. 6, 1958; her children, Michele (James) Sharlow Capps, Jana Sharlow, W. Scott (Barbara) Sharlow, and Beth Sharlow, all of Butler; her grandchildren, Rachel Sharlow of Butler and Adam Coy of Tarentum; her sisters, Doris Harr Leiter, Martha Harr Long and Evelyn (Orvis) Harr Wyman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John “Jack” Harr.
