Marietta M. Bowman, 92, of the Saxony Health Center, formerly of Zeigler Avenue in Butler, passed away Monday at the Saxony Health Center.

Born in Butler, Feb. 28, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Angelina Iacobelli Scarpitti.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society.

Marietta's greatest pleasure was being a wife, mother and nana. She loved having her family and friends over, especially on Christmas Eve, for the traditional Italian dinner.

She was always giving to others.

She is survived by a son, David L. Bowman and his wife, Diana, of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Bowman of Butler; four grandchildren, Maria Christofano, Deanna Green and her husband, Brian, Dave Bowman and Mark Bowman and his wife, Hope; a step-granddaughter, Megan Shearer; five great-grandchildren, Nicole Christofano, Michael Christofano, Grace Rudish, Lydia Bowman and Hope Shearer; a great-great granddaughter, Marlee West; two nieces, Rita Bournique and her husband, Lou and Carol Scarpitti; five nephews, Frank Scarpitti and his wife, Ellen, Ron Scarpitti and his wife, Helen, Dave Scarpitti, Ed Scarpitti and Gary Scarpitti; and her family at the Saxony Health Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Bowman Sr., who passed away Sept. 19, 1992; a son, James A. Bowman Jr., who passed away July 5, 1999; three brothers and a sister.

Bowman, who died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, followed by a blessing service at 11 a.m., with the Rev.
