A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty in three drug-related cases in Butler County Court on Wednesday.

Nafis A. Brown, 24, pleaded guilty to three felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and one count of conspiracy to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

The plea agreements call for a sentence of 2 to 5 years in a state correctional facility. He will also be ordered to pay any court costs and fines, and any restitution. He is scheduled for sentencing on April 26.

The pleas came shortly before hearings were to be held for two motions, one a motion to suppress evidence and one to disclose the identity of a confidential informant. Both those pretrial challenges were dismissed as a result of the plea.

Brown was initially charged with two counts of felony possession with intent and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Sept. 27; felony possession with intent and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop on Oct. 2; and felony possession with intent, conspiracy, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a search warrant on the same day.

Butler County Drug Task Force officers reported in the Sept. 27 incident that Brown sold heroin to a confidential informant on 8th Avenue in Butler.

Officers then began conducting surveillance on a home in the 500 block of Fairground Hill Road, Butler, that was known to be frequented by Brown.

On Oct. 2, Brown was seen exiting the home, getting into a vehicle and driving away.

Police then conducted a traffic stop for illegal window tinting on East Jefferson Street, and Brown was found driving on a suspended license.

During a pat down, police said stamp bags of heroin were felt in Brown's crotch area, and 16 bags were eventually discovered, as well as $329 in cash and three cell phones.

Brown was arrested and the task force, in turn, obtained a search warrant for the house.

Inside the home were Anthony L. Williams, 27, who police said was a native of Philadelphia, and Chelsey L. Schlagel, 22, of Butler.

Found at the home, documents said, was a book bag, which allegedly belonged to Brown and contained about 24 grams of crack, $5,380 in currency and drug packaging materials.

Officers also found Williams with $455 in currency and seized three more cell phones and a scale during the search. Schlagel

Williams and Schlagel were both charged with felony counts of possession with intent, conspiracy, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Williams' charges were eventually dismissed at the preliminary court level. Schlagel is free after posting $25,000 bail, and is currently awaiting further court proceedings.

Brown continues to be held on $300,000 bail pending sentencing.
