Butler PoliceWednesday — George C. Puhac, 38, Butler was arraigned on charges that he kicked a woman in the stomach and cut her right arm with a pair of scissors during a domestic dispute July 24 in the city.The victim appeared Wednesday at the police station and reported the incident. Puhac is charged with simple assault. He is free on non-monetary bail.8 p.m. Tuesday — Danny M. Bragg, 44, of Lyndora was arrested after he allegedly broke into a home on the 500 block of Elm Street. Police said they also found him with suspected marijuana and other drug contraband.District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Bragg on charges of burglary, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and two counts of harassment. He is free on $6,000 unsecured bail.Police accused Bragg of forcing his way into the home without the occupant’s permission. The occupant, a woman who is acquainted with the defendant, allegedly told police that she tried to block Bragg from getting into her home, but he shoved her out of the way.He also tried to punch a man who was in the home, according to court documents. The man “forcibly removed” Bragg, who fled the home.Butler Township police later found him on the 500 block of Hansen Avenue. City police were notified and took custody of Bragg. He taken to the Butler police station, where officers searched him and his belongings.Police said they found him with suspected marijuana and a digital scale.12:53 a.m. Tuesday — Rodger E. Shelatree Jr., 38, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute at an apartment on the 300 block of East Jefferson Street.Shelatree is accused of hitting the victim in the face and pushing her head into a window. The woman suffered redness to the right side of her face.Shelatree was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.
Butler Twp Police2:03 p.m. July 28 — Bailey A. Hines, 24, of Butler Township was arrested on charges that she tried to hide from police $30 that she allegedly stole from an employee’s break room at the Comfort Inn off Route 8 south.Police were investigating the reported theft of the money from a purse when they spoke to Hines, a housekeeper at the hotel. She denied taking the money, according to charging documents.Later, while still at the hotel, an officer watched the defendant walk to the outdoor patio and hide the suspected stolen money under a patio stone, documents said.Hines is charged with tampering with physical evidence, theft and receiving stolen property. She is free on her own recognizance.
State Police, ButlerJuly 29 — An unknown thief stole a combined $840 worth of property from four vehicles at a home on Harris Road in Clearfield Township. The theft occurred between 7:30 p.m. July 28 and 7:30 a.m. July 29.Among the stolen items were two pairs of sunglasses, a jacket, tools and a snow shovel, according to a police report. The investigation continues.July 17 — A Lawrence County woman was arrested on charges that she forged and cashed three checks for a total of $450, which belonged to her grandmother in Muddy Creek Township. The victim reported the alleged crime Dec. 31.Police took the defendant, Danya L. Vignoli, 30, of Pulaski, into custody on an arrest warrant in the case. She was arraigned on a felony charge of theft by deception and a misdemeanor charge of forgery, and released on her own recognizance.
