'Schoolhouse Rock Live!'
The Butler High School fall musical will be “Schoolhouse Rock Live!”
The play is based on an idea by David McCall and the educational television series created by George Newall and Tom Yohe.
The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series taught history, grammar and math through clever, tuneful songs.
“Schoolhouse Rock Live!” follows the character, Tom, a school teacher who is nervous about his first day on the job. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win over his students using imagination and music.
Songs include “(I'm) Just a Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly (Get Your Adverbs Here)” and the well-known “Conjunction Junction (What's Your Function).”
Characters and the actors playing them are: Dina played by Amelia Bishop, Dori played by Olivia Pascazi, George played by Chase Uram, Joe played by Andrew Stock, Shulie played by Amy Achenbach, and Tom played by Theo Peterson.
The ensemble features Samantha Barnhart, Rebekah Bright, Grant Clark, Hannah Eberle, Elaina Fenstermacher, Jillian Fields, Molly Gomez, Samantha Hartle, Collette Henderson, Bonnie Klopfer, Carly Ratica, Miranda Santoro, Brianna Shade, Jessica Donato, Haley McCreary and Natalie VanLaningham.
The director is Dale VanLaningham, with Danielle Smith as choreographer, Alicia Pabrinkis as vocal director, Shanna Kelly as orchestra conductor, and Robert Harrison and David Smith as technical directors.
Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17 in the Butler Senior High School auditorium.
Tickets are $5 and will be available starting Monday at May's Music Shoppe, 247 E. Jefferson St., or at the door.
