Steel City Stampede wraps up Lernerville Speedway season

BUFFALO TWP — Lernerville Speedway's 2010 racing season concluded Saturday with the DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede.

The car count ballooned from 220 Friday night to more than 300 Saturday as 90 Enduros joined the field. The pits had to expand into the infield for the first time in the track's 43-year history.

Dale Blaney won the $3,000 Sprint feature, outdueling Danny Holtgraver. The win was Blaney's fourth at Lernerville this season.

Jared Miley led the Late Model feature from wire to wire, winning for the third time in his last four races at the Sarver oval.

The BRP Modified Tour wrapped up with Chad Homan of New York beating out Rex King Sr. by .019 of a second. King walked away with the BRP points title, however.

Sportsman Stock points champion Joe Kelley won his 10th race of the season at Lernerville. Bob Egley finished second.

In other features:

• Bryan Force won the UMP Pro Late Model race, leading all 20 laps.

• Brian Ruhlman won the UMP Modified (E-Mod) race, beating out Dave Hess Jr. and Brent Rhebergen.

• Brent Sholtis won the 4-cylinder race, with only eight cars from the original 24-car starting grid able to finish.

• Mikey Hay claimed the STARS Mod Lites feature.

• Kenny Meadows drove Doug Peterman's No. 67 car to the win in the Mini-Late Models exhibition.

• Former Sportsman Stock and Sprint car driver Glenn Noland dominated the Enduro 100, coming in five laps ahead of second-place Dan Zimmerman.
