Two drivers were injured in a crash Saturday morning in Chicora. Route 68 was closed for nearly two hours while crews cleaned up the scene.

CHICORA — Two drivers were injured in a crash Saturday morning in Chicora, with one vehicle landing on its side and closing Route 68 through the borough.

The crash occurred at 409 N. Main St. in front of the former Freidman's supermarket at 8:27 a.m.

Chicora Volunteer Fire Department Chief Cody Craig said one driver was taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian, while the other driver was transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Craig said no entrapment occurred in the incident, as both drivers were able to get themselves out of the vehicles.

A pedestrian walking along the road was also clipped by one of the vehicles but was uninjured, Craig said.

No information regarding the cause of the crash was available at the scene, and the drivers' conditions were unknown.

The two vehicles involved in the incident were a Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck and a Volkswagen Beetle. Both vehicles were towed.

Route 68 was closed for nearly two hours while crews cleaned up the scene, and the road was reopened at about 10:15 a.m.

Chicora Volunteer Fire Department, Chicora Ambulance, Butler Ambulance and the state police assisted at the scene.
