Continuing the theme of November being a month of homeless awareness, Sue Bowser, above, and other members of an advocacy group placed a couch on the corner of Cunningham and Main streets Friday. Members with the Butler County Local Housing Options Team held signs like “Butler County has over 200 homeless children” and “Where will you sleep tonight? Couches don’t count!” Mark Lane of Slippery Rock, a member of the group who tried to speak about homelessness with passers-by Friday afternoon, said “It’s not addressed very well. It’s something that needs to be worked on, not just in Butler County but across the nation.” And Amy Cirelli of Butler said that they put a couch on the corner to illustrate how inadequate a couch is as a living quarter. “It’s not enough to sleep on a couch,” Cirelli said. “It’s the same as being homeless and we want to help people find something better.”
