CRANBERRY TWP — A township man last week had charges of assault and driving under the influence held to court after he allegedly was involved in an altercation in June.

Police said Joseph Germanoski, 29, punched a man at the Quaker Steak and Lube on Freedom Road on June 18 around 11:47 p.m. and fled the scene under the influence.

Germanoski was pulled over while driving his motorcycle on Route 228 near the Interstate 79 ramp before Thorn Hill Extension.

When police asked him if he had been in a fight earlier, he said he was, according to police reports.

“When I asked what happened, he stated that he ‘punched a dude,’” the report states.

Police also said Germanoski had “glassy bloodshot eyes and spoke with a slurred speech.”

He tested positive for alcohol via a portable breath test and was arrested for DUI. He later refused to submit to a blood test, according to the report.

Other officers responded and spoke with the alleged victim’s girlfriend, Alyssa Greene, who said in the report that Germanoski “kept bothering her group of friends.”

“They also advised that the male kept asking them if they wanted to do ‘coke’ with him,” the report states. “She stated that the male left to the parking lot several times and returned to the outside bar area.”

After Greene notified her boyfriend, Arthur Derbonne, of the situation, Derbonne went outside with the group.

Derbonne said in the police report that Germanoski began to “flick” one of the females on the shoulder and head area, according to the report.

He said when he confronted Germanoski about it, Germanoski punched Derbonne in the head with a closed fist.

The two began to fight on the ground until patrons broke it up.

Germanoski then allegedly fled the scene on his motorcycle.

Derbonne suffered a laceration on his forehead from the punch and was treated at the scene.

Germanoski faces multiple charges, including one count of DUI and two charges of simple assault. Charges were filed in late September.

He was released on his own recognizance and will be formally arraigned in Butler County Court on Feb. 13.
