A Butler woman will be facing a preliminary hearing Monday after police say she spit at an officer during an arrest.

Kristie N. Lanegan, 51, of Butler was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and summary public drunkenness after an incident at West North and Broad streets at 11:38 a.m. May 27.

Butler police said the officers were dispatched to the area of Pillow and West Cunningham streets for a woman acting disorderly and yelling at people.

The criminal complaint states that the woman, identified as Lanegan, was found three blocks away in the area of Broad and West North streets.

The officers attempted to give Lanegan back property she had left at the Subway restaurant, and it was found that she was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, the document states.

She then became hostile and stated she did not want her property, yelling profanities and causing a public inconvenience, the document states.

While yelling, Lanegan spit in an officer's face, and when police attempted to arrest her, she attempted to pull way and refused to put her hands behind her back, the document states.

She was arrested and arraigned, and was being held in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday before District Judge William Fullerton.
