Drive-up distribution of food slated Tuesday
With unemployment rising due to the coronavirus, many people are relying on food banks to help keep food on the table.
For those in need, an emergency drive-up food distribution is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alameda Park in Butler Township,
Working with the Alliance for Nonprofit Resources, Butler County Parks and Recreation and the Butler County Sheriff's Office, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is planning to serve 575 vehicles.
Those seeking emergency food distribution will receive two 25-pound boxes of food per vehicle regardless of the number of families or groups in the vehicle.
Walk-ups will not be permitted, and those participating must stay in their vehicle unless using the restroom facilities. Food will be loaded into the trunk or the backseat of the vehicle.
