Jane Louise (Jenkins) Reddick

Jane Reddick

Jane Louise (Jenkins) Reddick, 82, of Herman died peacefully Wednesday of natural causes at her home. She had fought heart disease for many years.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Edward Jenkins and Agnes (Tishey) Jenkins.

Jane grew up on Butler’s South Side. She attended St. Michael Parochial School through the eighth grade and graduated from Butler High School in 1948.

Jane was an active member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman and was a member of St. Mary Christian Mothers. She was a former Eucharistic Minister and Lector at the church. She was a lifetime supporter of the Franciscan Capuchin Order.

She was a homemaker while her children were young, then she was the Summit Township secretary during the 1980s and 1990s.

She traveled extensively, and visited almost all 50 states and Canada. In the summer of 1990, Jane and her good friend, Jane Hinterlang, made a pilgrimage to Italy, where they saw Blessed Pope John Paul II. Jane had two additional close friends in her life, Eleanor Moran and Kay Harrison, with whom she shared many experiences. They gave each other support and strength throughout their lives.

Jane loved to read, pray, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. A staunch Pittsburgh sports fan all of her life, her family and close friends attribute the last two Steeler Super Bowl victories to her prayers.

She had attended hundreds of baseball, softball and football games in support of her children and grandchildren.

She was a woman of deep faith who overcame many challenges in her life. She will be truly missed by her friends and family.

She married John (Jerry) Reddick in 1949, and had 12 children, Susan (Jim) Schwoebel, Mary Ann (Ted) Schnur, Therese (John) Yenick, Patty (Doug) Jackman, John (Cindy) Manuel) Reddick, Tom (Peggy Schnur) Reddick, Mark (Chrissy Barry) Reddick, and Gena (Mike) Schnur, all of the Butler area, Michele (Randy) Cygan of Bozeman, Mont., Stephen (Karen Graybill) Reddick of Strattanville, Pa., and Carole (Brent) Look, of Richmond, Va.

She has 33 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
