12:31 p.m. Friday — Albert Medina, 42, was arrested for allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a hammer during a domestic dispute at the couple's Fairview Avenue apartment.Police said Medina used the hammer to smash a videocassette recorder before coming at Lynn Pint, 26, with it. He was arrested at his home and threatened to "come after" the arresting officer's family once he was released from jail, a police report said.The defendant's belligerence continued at his arraignment, police said. He "was constantly yelling at (District Judge Kevin O'Donnell) and refused to sign papers," the report said.O'Donnell arraigned Medina on charges of terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and simple assault. He remains in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bond.4:33 p.m. Thursday — John Tirk, 29, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Jennifer Perry, 26, at the couple's East Patterson Avenue home. Tirk, who is free after posting bail on $2,000 bond, is charged with simple assault.
6:03 p.m. Sunday — A black man between 25 and 40 years old, 5-foot-8, and about 150 pounds, conned two cashiers at the Shop 'N Save supermarket on West Culvert Street out of $350 in two separate fraud schemes. Witnesses told police the unknown man drove off in a green compact car.4:33 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Roy Long, 50, of Renfrew, and Dewayne Molinari, 42, of Zelienople collided at Route 68 and Pittsburgh Street.
8:30 p.m. Sunday — Mitchell Berends, 47, of Slippery Rock was arrested for allegedly assaulting Bobbi Kay Schwanbeck, 31, of Slippery Rock at a Browntown Road home near Route 173 in Liberty Township, Mercer County. Berends is charged with simple assault.Saturday — Four motorists were arrested for driving under the influence during a sobriety checkpoint detail and roving DUI operation Friday night to Saturday morning on Route 258 in Liberty Township, Mercer County. Ten traffic citations also were issued.
