Thursday — Robert D. Losser, 50, of Butler was charged with three counts each of making false reports to law enforcement and fabricating physical evidence. Losser filed complaints with city police on Sept. 20, 23 and Thursday, saying he had received threatening letters from a person he had a protection order against. Following an investigation, police accused Losser of writing the letters himself.
4:15 a.m. Saturday — A vehicle driven by David Scott Jr., 24, of Butler was traveling on Henricks Road in Center Township when it drove into a ravine. Scott received minor injuries. Police cited speed as a factor in the accident.2:10 a.m. Saturday — Joseph McHale, 21, of Butler was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on West Cunningham Street in Butler City.2:15 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Michael Steighner, 23, of Butler struck a telephone pole on Mushrush Road in Jefferson Township. Both Steighner, who was not wearing a seat belt, and his passenger, James Harbison, 23, of Butler, who was wearing a seat belt, were taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Harbison was seriously injured. Steighner received moderate injuries. The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company assisted state police.1 a.m. Saturday — Kent Craig, 23, of Chicora was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and numerous traffic violations following a traffic stop on Route 68 in Donegal Township.Friday — Jason Dolmayer of Saxonburg reported someone drove through his yard at 406 Deer Creek Road sometime overnight. Anyone with information about the incident should call police at 724-284-8100.Friday — Huegel Motors of Sarver reported someone damaged the rear glass window of a 1999 Ford Explorer sometime overnight.Thursday — Someone kicked open the door to the West Sunbury residence of Robert Hall, 32, on Euclid Road between 2:30 to 4 p.m. No items were reported missing.9:15 p.m. Thursday — Richard Haley Jr., 41, was charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats after allegedly punching, kicking and aiming a loaded rifle at his wife, Kathleen Haley, 45, during various incidents between 10 p.m. Sept. 21 and midnight on Wednesday. Richard Haley was arraigned before District Judge Clifford Woessner and jailed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bond.11 p.m. Sept. 24 — State police conducted a DUI checkpoint on Route 8 in Center Township in which they made five DUI arrests and 13 traffic arrests as well as giving 21 written warnings.Sept. 1 — James Coon, 38, of Mars reported the theft of his black 1969 Chevrolet Camaro from a driveway located at 857 Seven Hills Road in Connoquenessing Township between May 1 and Sept. 1. The car had been previously wrecked and had a smashed roof. Anyone with information about the theft should call state police at 724-284-8100.
Sept. 21 — PennDOT reported that someone damaged the right side door window of a Champion grader at a site on Route 173 in Wolf Creek Township.
Sept. 2 — A motor vehicle accident with injuries occurred on East Main Street, in front of the Hillview Intermediate Center. A truck driven by Donald Eaton, 31, of 443 Liberty St., was stopped waiting to pull into Orchard Manor when it was rear ended by a van driven by Cassie Michael, 21, of Mercer. Deidra Stiffy, 18, of 443 Liberty St. was taken to Grove City Medical Center with neck pain. Michael was cited for failure to drive at safe speeds.
