12:31 p.m. Monday — Lawrence F. Scheetz Jr., 38, of Butler was charged with simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and harassment/physically striking after allegedly shoving his 14-year-old stepson down steps and hitting the boy's left shin with an aluminum baseball bat in their apartment at 122 S. Cliff St. Scheetz was released from Butler County Prison after posting a $5,000 bond.9 a.m. Monday — Leann Cramer of 410 McKinnley Ave. reported three bicycles stolen from her yard.9:35 a.m. Sunday — An unknown vehicle struck the 1995 GMCSonoma owned by Vaughn Shumaker of Grove City while it was parked on West New Castle Street, damaging its left door and front fender.11:51 a.m. Saturday — An unknown vehicle struck the 1996 Subaru Impreza owned by Francis Elliott of Kelly Road while it was parked on Miller Avenue.1:05 a.m. Saturday — An unknown vehicle struck two cars parked along Oak Street. The 2004 Volkswagen GTI owned by David Walls and the 1990 Oldsmobile owned by William Leith sustained damage after the unknown vehicle crossed the center of the road and struck them.12:15 a.m. Saturday — A vehicle was driven into a yard on Pleasantview Avenue. Following that, Dustin Flick, 19, of 109 East St. was cited for property damage, failure to have insurance, driving with a suspended license, unauthorized use/transfer of registration and failure to have proper registration. Christine Petrarulo, 21, of 115 Walker Ave., Apt. 1, was cited for failure to have a registered vehicle. Stephanie Caccamo, 22, of 225½ McClain Ave., was cited for unauthorized use/transfer of a registration. The report did not say who was driving the vehicle.Friday — A 2006 Chevrolet sedan owned by Randal Fisher of Grove City sustained damage after an unknown vehicle struck it while it was parked at the Salvation Army on West Cunningham Street.
4:20 p.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Stanley Gruver, 46, Butler struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Michael Drane, 24, of Freeport that was stopping for traffic on Route 356 in Jefferson Township. The impact sent Drane's vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by Dominic Tristani, 42, of Gibsonia. No injuries were reported.4:10 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Krystal Nail, 19, of Parker went down an embankment off Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township into a drainage ditch before overturning. Nail was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.11:35 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Robert Bauman, 66, of Erie struck a deer on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. No injuries were reported.Monday — 422 Auto Auction reported the theft of two vehicles from its Currie Road lot in Muddy Creek Township that occurred between 2:30 and 4 a.m. The thieves climbed over the fence surrounding the lot and drove the vehicles through the fence. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.8:56 a.m. Sunday — Two people were taken to the hospital when cars driven by Catherine Jesteadt, 50, and James Klein, 54, both of Butler collided on Country Club Road at Unionville Road in Franklin Township. Jesteadt and a passenger in the second vehicle, Rebekah Klein, 54, of Butler were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Police cited Jesteadt for a stop sign violation.12:29 a.m. Sunday — Shashank Swarup, 27, of Meadowcreast Drive, Allison Park, was arrested for driving under the influence along Route 8 in Middlesex Township.Saturday — Tracy Jo Reed of Fenelton reported her vehicle was damaged along Double Road in Connoquenessing Township between 4:25 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.2:30 a.m. Saturday— John Gizienski, 39, of Saxonburg was injured when his van struck a hillside and hit a pole on Sasse Road in Winfield Township. His Plymouth did not make a turn on a curve. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. He was to be charged with driving under the influence and traffic citations.12:15 a.m. Saturday — Floyd D. Groves Jr., 46, of Callery was cited for careless driving and failure to notify police of an accident. Police said Groves was traveling south on Spithaler School Road in Forward Township when he hit a stone culvert.10:37 p.m. Friday — A Butler man reported a white van occupied by two males hit his Saturn on Route 356 inJefferson Township and fled.Wednesday — Troy Grossman of Slippery Rock reported someone spray-painted graffiti at 114 Sanderson Drive, Slippery Rock, between Wednesday and Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-284-8100.Wednesday — Thompson's Market reported someone broke into vending machines at its 136 Main St., West Sunbury location and took about $200 between Wednesday and Friday. 10:13 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by a Grove City 16-year-old-male was traveling on George Junior Road in Pine Township when it hit a tree and overturned, landing on its wheels. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. He told police he was distracted by a moth in his vehicle, leading to the accident on the wet road.2:30 a.m. Sunday — Richard L. Clayton, 45, of Stoneboro was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 965 in Worth Township.
12:40 a.m. Sunday — David Watts, 46, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 422 in West Franklin Township.8:52 p.m. Saturday — A vehicle driven by Todd Brain Stitt, 44, of Kittanning struck a deer as it was crossing the road. Stitt and four passengers in the vehicle were not injured.2:15 p.m. Thursday — A Toyota 4 Runner driven by John H. Soffiette, 51, of Pittsburgh lost control on a wet Route 28 in South Buffalo Township and struck a highway sign.9:50 p.m. Thursday — Vehicles driven by Jessica Crawford of Worthington and Michael O'Neill of Kittanning collided on MainStreet in Worthington.Wednesday — Patricia Jones, 46, of Distant reported she was traveling north on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township when her vehicle was struck by an object thrown from another vehicle.
Oct. 17 — Ed Cowner, 45, of Rimersburg reported someone stole several items from his garage between noon and 1 p.m. Anyone with information about the incident should call police at 724-284-8100.
