Blaze damages house
MARION TWP — The state police fire marshal’s office is investigating a weekend blaze that damaged a two-story house on Boyers Road.
Two people were home and one of the occupants, 34-year-old Mark. C. Williams, suffered minor injuries in the fire about 4:45 p.m. Sunday, fire officials said.
The fire apparently started in an upstairs bedroom. Authorities credited the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company with quickly putting out the blaze and minimizing damage.
Marion Fire Chief Joe Fitzgerald did not return a telephone call this morning.
Assisting the Marion Township VFC were firefighters from Harrisville, Eau Claire, West Sunbury, Slippery Rock, all in Butler County, and Clintonville in Venango County.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Deputy fire marshal Trooper David Jungling, the investigator, could not be reached for comment.
Police estimated damage at $10,000. The house is owned by Ernest Williams of Denton, Texas.
