Butler Police
Friday — An unidentified vehicle overnight struck a car parked at a home in the 200 block of Third Street. The unknown driver did not stop.
The victim, a 62-year-old woman, said her car had damage to the passenger side headlight, front fender and front bumper. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run accident is asked to call police at 724-287-7743.
Butler Twp. Police
Saturday — Police reported they charged Justin Ortego, 26, of Butler with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a crash shortly after 3 a.m. Feb. 17 on Delwood Road. Ortego faces charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI and careless driving.
Middlesex Twp. VFD
6:16 p.m. Saturday — A woman was injured when she reportedly fell off a horse she was riding on Old Route 8 south behind the Valencia Post Office.
The woman, believed to be about 60, was being treated by a Quality Ambulance crew when Middlesex Township volunteer firefighters arrived. Authorities did not immediately know the woman’s name.
She was complaining of back pain before being taken to an unknown hospital.
State Police, Franklin
9:39 a.m. Sunday — Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision on Rocky Grove Avenue in Sugarcreek. Police said Leanore S. Smith, 87, of Franklin, who was driving a minivan, pulled out of a church parking lot and in front of the other vehicle, a sport utility vehicle driven by John C. Haubrich, 81, of Franklin. The collision sent the minivan spinning.
Both drivers, who were wearing seat belts, were taken to UPMC Northwest hospital in Seneca with minor injuries. Smith was cited for improperly entering a road.
State Police, New Castle
12:43 p.m. Thursday — Pickup rucks driven by David L. Waterfield, 47, of Portersville and Polly E. Houk, 54, of Ellwood City collided in Wayne Township. The driver’s side mirrors of both trucks hit as they passed one another in opposite directions on Dutch Road just south of Mount Hope Road.
