9:51 a.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by Dixie Inman, 52, of Butler and a vehicle driven by Alex McComb, 33, of Pittsburgh collided at the intersection of Route 8 and Pepperland Boulevard. Both drivers, who were wearing seat belts, received unspecified injuries. Inman was cited for not yielding the right of way.8:58 p.m. June 25 — A pickup truck driven by Zachary Kordes, 17, of Butler was traveling on Tacoma Avenue when it struck the corner of a garage owned by Jim Grossi at 103 Clinton Avenue after Kordes jumped out of the moving vehicle. The truck then hit a chain-link fence and went over an embankment, traveling 17 feet into the air before landing in Grossi's yard and spinning to a stop. Kordes, who was not injured, told police the brakes failed.
Friday — Someone stole a white riding mower, a gas grill, a 50-gallon yard sprayer and five gallons of Round Up chemical yard spray, worth a total of $1,250, from a garage owned by Brian Evry at 1512 Oneida Valley Road in Chicora between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.7:30 p.m. Thursday — An minivan driven by Rayne Stoughton, 17, of Slippery Rock landed in a ditch off Stoughton Road in Slippery Rock Township. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Stoughton was cited for not staying in the road's lane.5:45 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Charlotte Byers, 76, of Harrisville hit a deer on Route 58 in Pine Township, Mercer County. Byers was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.5:17 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Lauren Clarke, 19, of Portsmouth, N.H., struck a guardrail off Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township before going over an embankment. Clarke was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries. She was cited for careless driving.Thursday — Someone stole a .22-caliber pistol from the glovebox of Carmen Morra's Chevy van while it was parked at 128 Love Road in Oakland Township between 8 a.m. June 21 and 10 a.m. July 5. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.10:30 p.m. Monday — A 17-year-old male juvenile was charged with retail theft after allegedly stealing items from Jeremy Stahl, 30, of Mill Hall, Pa., while he was selling merchandise as a vendor at the Butler Fairgrounds. All of the items were recovered.
Wednesday — Someone stole a Simplicity 12-inch tiller worth $700 from a Mt. Zion Road garage in Licking Township owned by Willis Elliott between 4 p.m. Oct. 31 and 9 a.m. July 4. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 814-226-1710.
