David L. Campbell
David L. Campbell, 82, of Butler passed away Thursday at his home.
He was born June 26, 1934, in Butler, to the late Laverne Warren Campbell and the late Eleanore L. Campbell.
David was the first juvenile officer in Butler City. He was a police officer in the City of Butler. David was the captain of the police department and also a county detective of Butler. He retired from the county of Butler in 1995.
David was a member of the Elks Club and Fraternal Order of Police. He loved spending time at the camp in Tidioute with his wife, family and friends. He could tell a story like no one else could. He loved to hunt and fish. Later in years, David enjoyed spending every winter in Vero Beach, Fla., with his wife.
David is survived by his loving wife, Kay, and his favorite registered nurse that never left his side. Kay and David married in 1979. Also one son, Samuel Oesterling Jr. and his wife, Janet of North Carolina; five daughters, Elizabeth Bush of Cannonsburg, Jennifer Campbell of Cannonsburg, Melissa Oesterling of Meadville, Melinda Rupnik and her husband, Peter, of West Alexander and Marcella Goldinger of Renfrew; five grandchildren, Kelsie, Katlin, Taylor, Jeremiah and Dustin; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Larrick and her husband, Harold, of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, William Bush; and one grandchild, Tony “TJ” Cipolla.
CAMPBELL — Friends of David L. Campbell, who died Thursday, March 9, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will take place at the North Side Cemetery.
