PennDOT to reveal Route 228 plan
MIDDLESEX TWP — The final plan for the Route 228 Ball’s Bend realignment project will be displayed next week at an open house. ---- The state Department of Transportation will reveal the plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Middlesex Township municipal building at 133 Browns Hill Road. ---- PennDOT officials will update the project’s status and take comments on it. ---- PennDOT’s original plan was to straighten Route 228 from Route 8 to Quality Gardens, which would eliminate Ball’s bend and another sweeping bend at Harbison Road. PennDOT officials said that would create a safer Route 228. ---- But many residents objected to the plan because their properties would be eliminated or impacted by the newly aligned road. ---- An advisory committee of affected residents was formed to discuss the realignment project and report to PennDOT.
