BUTLER TWP — VA Butler Healthcare made two recent hires.

Dr. William Nowotny was named assistant chief of staff. He is a 10-year Navy veteran and lives in Mt. Jackson.

He has worked for the Veteran Healthcare Administration for three years. He had served as a primary care doctor at the James E. VanZandt Altoona VA Medical Center.

James Torok, an Erie native, now is the health system's coordinator for the VA Outpatient Clinics, which are in Ford City, Foxburg, Cranberry Township, New Castle and Hermitage.

He had previously worked as a social worker for the clinics.

The two men will oversee the operation of those clinics.
