Butler Eagle makes reporter changesTwo reporter staff changes have been made by the Butler Eagle.Aaron McKrell of Monaca, Beaver County, is a new reporter who will cover Butler, Center Township and do other assignments.McKrell, 25, recently worked at The News-Dispatch in Michigan City, Ind. He also had worked part-time in the past at the Times-News in Erie, which is where he grew up.He is a graduate of Edinboro University with a degree in print journalism.McKrell, who replaces Will DeShong, has moved to Butler.Also, a former Eagle reporter is returning to the newspaper.Tom Victoria, who was at the Eagle for a number of years, will come back to his previous position covering Butler County government and doing other assignments.He replaces John Bojarski, who has taken a job with McCandless Township in Allegheny County.

Ex-Butler VA official now in PittsburghPITTSBURGH — A former VA Butler Healthcare official is the new chief medical officer of VISN 4.Dr. Timothy Burke was appointed in 2011 as the chief of staff for VA Butler Healthcare. He also had served as VA Butler’s interim director.Burke was the acting chief medical officer for VISN 4 from June 2014 to June 2015 and since December 2015. In this position, Dr. Burke oversees the delivery of health care to more than 321,000 veterans with an operating budget of $2.7 billion.He joined the VA about 16 years ago.

L.L. Bean reports flat sales in 2015FREEPORT, Maine — Outdoors specialty retailer L.L. Bean on Friday reported flat sales in 2015, which was a tough year for the retail industry, especially clothing retailers, officials said Friday.Revenue hit $1.6 billion for the family owned company’s fiscal year that ended Feb. 28, CEO Steve Smith told workers in a memo. The disappointing news that the company missed its growth goals came after five consecutive years of sales growth.The 104-year-old company in Freeport “performed well given a challenging retail environment,” Smith said Friday in a statement.Warm weather in the critical fourth quarter was particularly tough on apparel retailers, and many of them resorted to steep discounts on winter clothing.“The fact that L.L. Bean is even with where they were last year is a strong result compared to many of their peers,” said Dan Hess, CEO of Merchant Forecast, a New York-based independent research firm. “Flat is good in this environment.”
