Calls for suspected drug activity Monday night apparently paid off for Butler police.

Officers nabbed a Delaware County man with suspected heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana shortly after the calls about 10:35 p.m., police said.

The defendant, Shamar Grant, 21, of Lansdowne, remains in Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail. He is charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession.

Police said they found Grant riding in the back seat of a vehicle that they stopped in the area of North McKean and East Penn streets.

A short time earlier, according to court documents, calls to the 911 center reported seeing a man matching his description coming out of a suspected drug house on First Street.

The callers also reported seeing the man get into a vehicle that looked like the one police stopped.

The defendant is accused of giving officers a bogus name. Police said they used a digital fingerprint scanner to get his identity. They also learned that he was wanted on an unspecified warrant.

Officers ordered him out of the vehicle that was occupied by two other passengers. He was searched, documents said, and was found with $310 in currency and a small amount of suspected marijuana.

Police said they also seized a pill bottle that was in the vehicle. They believe the bottle belonged to Grant.

In the bottle, documents said, were six capsules containing suspected heroin and 12 individually wrapped bags containing a combined 10 grams of suspected crack.

Each of the capsules, according to police, held the equivalent of about 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin.

District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Grant on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Additionally, he was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and false identification to law enforcement authorities.

Court records showed that Grant in Delaware County is facing a felony vandalism charge and misdemeanor charges of attempted theft from a vehicle in Delaware County.

He pleaded guilty in January to a 2017 robbery in Philadelphia and was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison followed by three years' probation.
