Brianna Ivory, 17, of Butler on April 25 was named the 2009 North Washington Rodeo Queen.Ivory is a senior at Butler High School, where she lettered in the equestrian team, rifle team and orchestra. She belongs to the Strolling Strings, 4-H and the Renfrew Riders.As rodeo queen, Ivory will appear in parades, the Big Butler Fair, the Butler Farm Show and other local activities.She has been riding horses since she was 2 and bought her first pony at 6. She will attend Slippery Rock University this fall.

Melissa Iser, daughter of Pam and Andy Chaff of West Sunbury, will be among educators from the Miami Valley in Ohio to be honored for their nominations for the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator award Friday.Iser teaches special education at Brookville Intermediate School in Brookville, Ohio.———The
Butler Lions Club participated in the annual Penn-DOT highway cleanup day April 18. The club has participated in this program for 19 years by cleaning along Route 8 from the bottom of North Main Street hill to the junction of Routes 8 and 308.More than a dozen members attended and collected 15 bags of trash from along the road.
