Dean DeLoss King

King

Dean DeLoss King, 70, of Hilliards passed away at 10:15 p.m. Thursday at his home, surrounded by his family, following a two-year battle with leukemia.

Born in Washington Township, Sept. 10, 1938, he was the son of the late Neil K. and Annie Campbell King.

He graduated from Concord High School in Hooker and Dean Technical Institute in Pittsburgh.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 in Germany, during the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis for the 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 37th Artillery. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant E5.

His working career spanned the Satec Corp. of Grove City and International Staple and Machine of Butler. He retired as a plant manager from A.E. Stucki Corp. in Pittsburgh in 2000.

He was an avid hunter, a Steeler fan, loved to travel and was a custom carpenter, whose specialty was building grandfather clocks. He was the last of five generations of oil men, managing the King wells until his passing. His favorite pastime was being with his four grandchildren.

Since the age of 14, Dean has been active in the North Washington Volunteer Fire Company, serving on the board of directors, as president and on the rodeo committee. He also served on the Moniteau School Board for seven years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ellen Graham King; two sons, Matthew (Stephanie) King of Latrobe and Brett (Kathy) King of Cary, N.C.; four grandchildren, Kenna, Aaron, Jonas and Lily King; nieces Kamila Novicki of Girard, Pa., and Julie and Emma Phillips of Jamestown, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Martha King of Cranberry Township, Butler County; a number of cousins; and scores of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Dean King; and his brothers, Pete and Dennis.

He was affiliated with North Washington Presbyterian Church and was a member and president of the North Washington Union Cemetery Association.

<B>KING</B> — Friends of Dean D. King, who died Thursday, June 11, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 13 and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home </B>in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mathias officiating. Interment will be in North Washington Cemetery.The Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge F&AM 521 of Park will conduct memorials services at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made to the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge F&AM and the New Castle Consistory.Information also is available at www.buzardfuneralhomes.com.
