Joseph “Joe” John Gates, 61, of North Washington passed away at 4 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1950, in Philadelphia. He was the son of Joseph John Gates and Suzanne Hanf Gates.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Eve Racaud, who he married April 27, 1991; one daughter, Maxime Racaud of North Washington; two sons, Timothy Gates and his wife, Jennifer, of Cranberry Township and Michael Gates and his wife, Joy, of Jackson Township; and three grandchildren, Jake Gates, Alexa Gates and Samantha Gates.

He was preceded in death by one son, Zechariah.
