12:21 p.m. Monday — Ronald A. Carben, 42, no known address, was arrested after an altercation with police at a transitional care home in the 200 block of North Washington Street. Police said they had to deploy a Taser during the incident.

Police were called for a disturbance at the home where Carben had been staying as part of the Irene Stacy Community Mental Health Center Residential Services program. A staff member told police the suspect became angry when he learned he was being evicted, according to court documents.

Carben is accused of yelling at the staffer. When officers told him to leave the home, he replied, “(expletive) you pigs,” a police affidavit said. He also charged at an officer and police used a Taser to subdue him, according to the report.

The defendant was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, and he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

Monday — Michael C. Bastian, 18, of Renfrew was charged in connection with a theft from a vehicle case earlier this summer on East Brady Street. Police suspect the teenager broke into a car shortly before 5 a.m. July 25 when they spotted him, court documents said.

Bastian ran from police but was nabbed a short time later. He smelled of alcohol, police said, but he denied breaking into any vehicles. Instead, he allegedly admitted being the lookout for the thief, a man he knew as “Mike.”

Bastian is charged with theft from a vehicle, conspiracy to commit theft from a vehicle, public drunkenness and underage drinking.

Monday — Police charged Dimire M. Chall, 18, of Oil City, Venango County, with shoplifting bottles of cologne, perfume and body spray from the Kmart store at Pullman Square last month. The teen allegedly took the merchandise, valued at $41, on Sept. 10.

Chall, who has one prior shoplifting arrest, is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

Butler Twp. Police7:30 a.m. Sept. 29 — A fight at the Butler Intermediate High School landed a 13-year-old student in trouble with the law. Police cited the student, who they did not identify, with disorderly conduct and harassment.

Grove City Police Saturday — An unknown thief stole two duffel bags of baseball equipment from an unlocked storage shed at the Grove City College baseball field. The theft happened Friday or Saturday.One of the stolen bags, which contained baseball bats, was recovered Saturday. The other bag, which contained about 12 red batting helmets with a white letter “G” on the front, is still missing.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

State Police, Butler5:15 p.m. Tuesday — Jane Harper, 59, of Sarver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her sport utility vehicle struck a stop sign at Jones and Bonniebrook roads in Jefferson Township. Police said Harper drove away after the crash but was later found at her home, still in the driver’s seat of the SUV.Monday — Timothy J. McCollough, 20, of Donegal Township was arrested on charges he broke into a Clay Township home last month and made off with numerous items.McCollough is accused of forcing his way into the woman’s house in the 500 block of Euclid Road on Sept. 26 while she was away on vacation. He allegedly stole jewelry gold coins and currency in the break-in, according to court documents.Police noted in an affidavit the homeowner shared with them surveillance video of the crime captured by her security camera. The video showed the defendant entering the house through the basement.He later placed “an opaque material” over the camera “to prevent further footage from being recorded,” documents said.District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned McCollough on felony charges of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail following arraignment.Noon Sunday — Bryan Lee Conner, 24, of West Sunbury was arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening a 24-year-old woman during a domestic dispute on Campbell Road in Concord Township.Conner was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.Sept. 19 — A purse, sweat shirt and other items were stolen from a locked vehicle at The Grove at Slippery Rock apartment complex on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said the purse was later found and turned in to the Slippery Rock University police station.Missing from the purse, a police report said, was $45.

State Police, Kittanning12:14 a.m. today — Corey J. Schiano, 29, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at South Jefferson and Walnut streets in Kittanning.

State Police, Mercer3:10 p.m. Thursday — A 17-year-old Grove City boy is accused of damaging a school bus traveling on North Liberty Road near Airport Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County. The teenager threw a penny at the bus, owned by Student Transportation of America, hitting a window and causing it to “spider.”Police noted there were no students on the bus at the time and no one was injured. The boy was cited for disorderly conduct.7:35 p.m. Sept. 17 — Malachi M. Graham, 19, of Grove City allegedly gave police a bogus name following a traffic stop in Findley Township. He was a passenger in the car that was stopped on Interstate 79.Police charged Graham with false identification to law enforcement authorities.
