12:40 p.m. Monday — Edward Halagich, 36, of Renfrew was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief after police responded to a burglar alarm at Barnsteel Abrasives on Etna Street. Police found Halagich leaving the building and believe he was stealing copper wiring to sell as scrap. He was jailed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bond. He later posted bond and was released.Sunday — James H. White, 48, of Butler was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass after allegedly stealing a wallet from a Lutheran Services employee's purse at her North McKean Street office and a wallet and two rings from the purse of an employee from the law firm of Cingolani & Cingolani at its Morgan Center office on Dec. 12. White on Dec. 13 was seen discarding one of the wallets at the Butler Transit Authority Terminal on East Cunningham Street. White was jailed in Butler County Prison on a $10,000 bond.11 p.m. Sunday — Someone driving Charles and Linda Fend's stolen vehicle wrecked into Edna Spagnola's parked vehicle near the intersection of Monroe and Brady streets before fleeing on foot. The Fends and Spagnola are Butler residents. Police are searching for the driver, who is described as being a white female who is 5 feet 5 inches tall, has brown hair and has an average build. Anyone with information about the incident should call police at 724-287-7743.12:55 a.m. Saturday — Someone broke into the Marathon gas station on South Main Street and stole an unspecified amount of cash and cigarettes. When police responded to the burglar alarm, they found the store's glass door broken by a rock. Anyone with information about the incident should call police at 724-287-7743.
Sunday — Dominic Sharrer, 18, John English, 19, Ross Newell, 18, and Matthew McGarrah, 18, all of Butler, were charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing at Alameda Park.11:59 p.m. Friday — Ronald Hume, 35, of Butler was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Whitestown Road.
9:50 p.m. Tuesday — Debra Bortz reported someone stole various items from her vehicle while it was parked near her Franklin Township residence in the 140 block on North Road.7:59 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Teri Lynn Kelly, 30, of Boyers and a vehicle driven by Beverly M. Cox, 64, no address, collided at the intersection of Routes 38 and 138 in Washington Township. The impact sent Cox's vehicle into an embankment. Cox received moderate chest injuries and was taken by North Washington EMS to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment. She later was discharged. Kelly was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. North Washington Fire Police also assisted at the scene.1:15 p.m. Tuesday — Kyle Baker, 19, of Portersville was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at the intersection of West Penn and North Bluff streets in Butler City.9:15 a.m. Tuesday — George Lee Carroll Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., was arrested as a fugitive from justice following a traffic stop on Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township. He is wanted in Virginia on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.Tuesday — An unknown vehicle sideswiped a 1996 Chevy Cavalier parked in the Clearview Mall outside the Bon Ton Department Store between 9:10 and 9:30 a.m.12:20 a.m. Tuesday — Cindy Amend, 48, of Lyndora was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on New Castle Road in Butler Township.9 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Jonathan Maker, 41, of Portersville and a vehicle driven by Richard Hulings, 47, of Slippery Rock collided at the intersection of Route 173 and Ralston Road. Hulings received minor injuries. Maker was not hurt. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Maker was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and multiple traffic violations.7:34 p.m. Dec. 13 — A vehicle driven by Charles Planker, 26, of Emlenton and a vehicle driven by Leroy Hammond, 41, of Butler collided on Route 8 in Center Township. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
10 p.m. Monday — Ronald L. Blinn Jr., 25, of New Castle was charged with robbery, simple assault, theft, receiving stolen property and harassment after allegedly punching the clerk at the Tic-Toc Food Mart on Ellwood Road and stealing $36 from his hand before fleeing. Blinn was found at his residence, which is on the same street. Blinn was arraigned before District Judge David Rishel and jailed in Lawrence County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond. Shenango Township police assisted state police.
