12 more COVID deaths reported
COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 12 people in the county and 313 people across the state since Friday.
The Butler Health System reported that three people died Friday, four died Saturday, four died Sunday and one died Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital. Those deaths added to the state total of 33,962.
BMH is treating 50 patients with confirmed COVID cases, including nine in the intensive care unit. Statewide, 29,449 new cases were reported Monday, raising the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,783,118, according to the state Department of Health.
Those cases include 16,664 among children up to age 4 and 94,234 among children ages 5 to 18 since Aug. 16. In the county, there have been 256 cases in children up to age 4 and 1,950 in children ages 5 to 18 since Aug. 16, according to the health department.
The state recovery rate fell from 91% on Friday to 90% Monday.
Residents locally and statewide continue to receive vaccinations. In the county, 107,208 people among the population of 193,763 are fully vaccinated, 13,074 people are partially vaccinated and 33,944 people have received an additional dose since Aug. 13.
Among the state's 12.8 million residents, 6,664,274 people are fully vaccinated, 7,266,198 people are at least partially vaccinated, and 1,627,148 additional doses have been administered since Aug. 13. A total of 15,557,620 vaccinations have been administered.
In nursing and personal care homes in the county, there have been 1,507 cases among residents and 1,334 among employees, and 323 deaths. Statewide, there has been 68,741 resident cases, 51,155 employee cases and 15,194 deaths, according to the department.
