Teen accused in gun thefts
OAKLAND TWP — Two teenagers are suspected of stealing shotguns during a burglary last year at a home on Davis Road, state police said.
District Judge Lewis Stoughton on Thursday issued a felony arrest warrant for Jory Dean Loughman, 18, of Butler in connection with the October 2015 break-in.
Police allege Loughman and a 16-year-old accomplice, who authorities did not identify, broke into Eugene Beitch’s house between Oct. 4 and 18 and took a 12-gauge shotgun and a 20-gauge shotgun from the bedroom of Beitch’s son.
The two long guns are valued at a combined $450,
The pair of young burglars fled the house and hid the guns at the 16-year-old’s house, according to court documents. The firearms eventually were sold to two other youths.
Loughman is charged with burglary, conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property, all felonies. It was not immediately known if police charged his alleged accomplice in Butler County juvenile court.
Meanwhile, Loughman is also wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing last week in an unrelated criminal case.
Butler police charged him in the other case with corruption of minors, theft from a vehicle and conspiracy.
